CAGLIARI, MYSTERIOUS NURAGHI. Arrival and meeting with our Tour Leader. After welcome cocktail, you settle in the reserved rooms at the hotel. We go on an excursion to the village of Abbasanta andNuraghe Losa, a complex of prehistoric building with a triangular shape in the central structure. We discover a surprising settlement of the ancient Iron Civilization with huts and ceramic objects. Dinner and overnight stay.
ARBATAX, GENNARGENTU NATIONAL PARK. After breakfast a boat excursion through the marvellous coves of the Natural Park of Gennargentu. Through turquoise and crystal-clear waters we reach uncontaminated beaches where to bathe and visit the Fico Cave. Lunch aboard. Late afteroon return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
THE BAUNEI COAST, THE DEEPEST ABYSS IN EUROPE. Breakfast and excursion to the Golgo rocky chasm. An unforgettable naturalistic experience that surprised even an expert discoverer, the speleologist Alberto Pintori, who wentdown to an unreachable depth of about 275 meters and came back up to surface with completely white hair for fear. We go on to the calcareous valley surrounded by century old woods of holm trees, until we reach a small rural church of the sixteen hundreds built between ancient Nuraghe pools used to collect water. We enjoy a packed lunch with food of the place and an afternoon walk among muleteers, goats and coal paths to discover hidden archaeological sites and admire fantastic landscapes from the mountain to the sea. We return to hotel and spend evening tasting excellent fresh fish and famous mussels farmed in the local fishmonger’s. Overnight stay.
BARBAGIA, LAND OF INDOMITABLE SHEPHERDS. Breakfast and excursion to Barbagia to explore the uncontaminated nature in the heart of Sardinia. We candiscover rare botanic species and cork oaks. We meet shepherds of the hill of Lake Cusana that will prepare an excellent lunch for us with underground cooking of tender meat with fragranced herbs. We taste ricotta and pecorino cheese with honey, smoked sausages, sheep stew, cakes and Cannonau wine. Afternoon visit to places where time has stopped among landscapes of wild beauty that once hid the ancient Sardinian people from the Roman invasions. Visiting Orgosolo we find traditions preserved in its five hundred murals. The original wall paintings will offer us memory's fragments of the social life and we understand why the “tenor singing” of the barbaric people has been recognised as Unesco heritage. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
GAVOI, THE PLACES OF THE SARDINIAN FLOWER CHEESE. Breakfast and excursion to Gavoli, renowned for its cheese production recognized by the Slow Food Association. After visiting museums, churches and boutiques of the historic centre where every year the “Island of Stories”, Sardinia’s Literary Festival, takes place, we reach a cellar for the aging of the “Sardinian Flower”, the delicious pecorino cheese produced in perforated containers made of chestnut tree or wild pear tree wood. We accompany our gastronomic tasting with enjoyable ruby red wine, obtained by a precise selection of cannonau and cagnulari grapes. Free time for further discoveries and strolls in the naturalistic beauties of Lake Gusana and Gennargentu woods, where still flye the peregrine falcon, the royal kite, the wild cat and the marten. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
OLBIA, A ROMAN FARM AND NURAGHE CASTEDDU. Breakfast and transfer to Olbia to visit the archaeological excavation of the Farm of S’imbalconadu, an archeological site of Roman age for production of wine and bread. Our tour continues to the tomb the Giants, the largest in Sardinia, built by the Viscount of Pisa for the control of Gallura. Lunch at a typical restaurant before your departure.
