THE SECRET SPLENDOUR OF AREZZO. You will arrive at the airport or train station in Florence, meet with our Tour Leader and transfer to the hotel. Welcome Cocktail in Arezzo! Spend your vacation in a historic abbey surrounded by greenery. Upon arrival, you will be able to enjoy a visit to the historical area with our guide. Being one of the oldest cities of Tuscany, it will surprise you with its artistic richness that starts from the Etruscan through Roman and Medieval times until the Renaissance. While taking a relaxing stroll you'll admire its palaces, frescoes of Piero della Francesca, Vasari's House, the Town Hall Square, the Cathedral and Piazza Grande. You will enjoy a dinner made of authentic food from that area. You will spend the night at the hotel.
ANGHIARI, MONTERCHI AND SAN SEPOLCRO IN THE COLORS OF VALTIBERINA. You will have breakfast then leave for Anghiari with its picturesque medieval houses in stone, the charming quiet streets. You will be able to lean from the scenic walls dominating the valley to find the scene of the battle between Florentines and Milaneses painted by Leonardo. With our guide you will visit the National Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions in the Renaissance Taglieschi Palace, including paintings, sculptures and pottery. You will discover old artistic and cultural traditions. In a historic textile factory from over a century ago, you'll take part in a unique experience: you’ll be able to enjoy the sight of the old machinery that still works carding flax, hemp, cotton and wool between the Tiber and the Arno. Continuing through fields of sunflowers and corn, smelling the olive oil scent that gives flavour to herbs, you will reach a castle that is still haunted by a ghost to enjoy an excellent plate of polenta with mushrooms, tasty white veal from the Apennines and traditional desserts with Vin Santo. And maybe you’ll enjoy smoking a Toscano Extra –Vecchio cigar prepared with fine quality Kentucky tobacco while you stop in the serene village of Monterchi to admire the famous fresco of the Madonna del Parto. The visit to the historical center of St. Sepolcro will charm you in its interesting architectural representation of the Renaissance. But also for the Medici Fortress, the works of Piero della Francesca in the Civic Museum and the Museum of Aboca. By taking this last visit you will be handed down the centuries-old history of medicinal plants: you'll discover recipes of pharmaceutical botany, old books and valuable herbaria: you will have access to the legends and secrets of perfume laboratories. In the evening you will enjoy dinner, a delicious and intensely flavoured soup with farro or chickpeas, Valdarno chicken, salami, ham and soprassata with bread prepared according to traditional method. While enjoying this dinner you will be drinking excellent Chianti from the hills of Arezzo. You will then spend the night at the hotel.
CORTONA AND CASTIGLION FIORENTINO BETWEEN ARCHEOLOGY AND CHIANINA. After breakfast, you’ll be taken on a guided tour of Cortona, founded by the mythical Dardano. It’s an ancient Etruscan, Roman and Medieval city, and it recounts its long history with architectural buildings, narrow streets paved with slabs, and millennial artwork kept in the Museum of the Academy. You will then be able to take a stroll in the romantic atmosphere of squares and streets as have many cavaliers, poets and painters. After a typical lunch with salami, cheese, salad and a wine tasting, you will be taken through extraordinary landscapes to descend into the Val di Chiana. You will enjoy the sight of a rich and fertile landscape of vineyards and olive groves characterized by " Leopoldina ", large farmhouses. Along our route you will discover villages and an unspoilt countryside where you can breathe, touch, smell and taste genuine fruit. Even better you will meet people who prefer a simple but authentic lifestyle. After a stop at the beautiful Benedictine Abbey of Farneta, you will continue to the ancient Lucignano protected by unmistakable elliptical walls. You will taste typical Tuscan wines and visit a typical farm with livestock of the mythical Chianina cows. You will spend the evening in the magnificent medieval town of Castiglion Fiorentino. You’ll be able to look down and admire a wonderful landscape from its beautiful Loggia Vasari and enjoy dinner with a typical menu enriched by Chianina beef and fragrant porcini mushrooms and truffles of the Valle di Chio. You will then spend the night at the hotel.
THE CASTLE OF POPPI IN CASENTINO, AREZZO’S CHIANTI AND THE BRIDGE OF THE MONALISA IN VAL D' ARNO. After breakfast, you will go on a guided excursion to the picturesque Castle of Poppi. You will discover one of the main medieval castles that have witnessed the famous battle of Campaldino to which Dante Alighieri took part. Inside you will visit the Chapel of the Counts Guidi with fourteenth-century frescoes of Gaddi, the major pupil of Giotto, the Ballroom with refined decoration and the Rilliana Library, an outstanding collection of ancient books and manuscripts. You will have lunch in a restaurant with historic charm made of exposed stone walls and traditional casentinese cuisine: fresh pasta dishes, local meat and desserts. In the afternoon, you will visit the wine cellars of a farm to enjoy Arezzo’s precious Chianti. Along the path you'll cross the Roman Bridge of Buriano. You'll find yourself in the same landscape background of the famous Mona Lisa. Later on, you will leave for the airport or train station.
