DESCRIPTION

THE VALLEY OF REAL TASTES. Arrival in Val Tiberina for an art meeting in the birthplaces of Michelangelo and Piero Della Francesca. First stop: Citerna, a small medieval town built on the ancient Roman "Civitas Sobaria", located on a beautiful hill in one of the most beautiful areas of Umbria on the border with Tuscany. You will cross the fascinating walkways of the ancient village of the twelfth century. You will discover exceptionally preserved medieval finds: the churches of San Francesco and San Michele Arcangelo of 1300, the church of San Giacomo and Palazzo Vitelli dating back to the 1400s. Staying in an oasis of peace and tranquility, so unique as to seem unreal, you will find yourself immersed in a friendly and hospitable atmosphere and enjoy the typical dishes of Umbrian-Tuscan cuisine. After depositing your luggage at the hotel you will head for the magnificent village of Anghiari to wander on foot in its old historic center. Here you will find picturesque medieval stone houses, narrow alleys and picturesque squares. Visit the superb Palazzo Taglieschi, in Renaissance style, home to the National Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions. You can admire frescoes, paintings, wooden sculptures, precious terracotta, as well as a suggestive well of desires. Continuing on your itinerary, you get to Caprese Michelangelo, the birthplace of Michelangelo. Typical lunch to discover the true flavors of the forest. By the way, did you know that Michelangelo was a great kitchen expert? Well yes! It seems, in fact, that Michelangelo, wanting to send a recipe to his illiterate cook, had to draw all the dishes. Today, these designs make us perceive more clearly the value of food in the history of this region. Leaving Caprese Michelangelo, you will take the road to Sansepolcro, the city of Piero Della Francesca, the artist who was born here, lived, worked and died in 1492. Sansepolcro is a citadel of art. You will visit the Museo Civico, which houses the main works of the artist, the Medici Fortress and the historic center, considered one of the most interesting examples of Renaissance artistic civilization. Dinner with genuine local food and overnight in a country hotel.

AREZZO AND CASENTINO WOODS. After breakfast, you will head for the small village of Falciano, near Arezzo, to meet a family of millers, who still grinds wheat, corn, and chestnuts with the water mill of ancestors. You will end up in a special place, lost in the woods and breathe clean air and, for a few hours, get the impression that time has stopped to rejoin your past. In the absolute silence that dominates the valley, lulled by the sound of the stream that feeds the mill, you can see that corn flour that you buy to prepare after our lunch. Then visit the castle of Valenzano, located in Casentino, between Arezzo and Florence. A spectacular building of 8000 m², with the original tower, dating back to the tenth century. In this place filled with history, a walk in the park will prepare you mentally for lunch. Walking along enchanting roads of rural landscapes, you reach Monterchi, a country of wonderful landscapes and the famous Madonna del Parto, symbol of life that opens up to the world. Then we move to the restaurant where the Chef will guide you through the secrets of one of the oldest recipes of this area, the polenta with wild boar sauce. A delicacy that few have been lucky enough to taste. After lunch, our guide will show you to Arezzo, historical city of Etruscan origins.
