MILAN, UNUSUAL AND MYSTERIOUS ART WORKS. Arrival and meeting with our Tour Leader to visit Milan starting from its icon, the Duomo. Inside the cathedral, on the left-hand side, we see the confessionals on a golden plate with an engraved triangle and an eye called “Occhio Divino”. Our guide will tell us about “magut”, the headmaster workers who used to be part of the Masonry and keep the secrets about the craft of construction. We go up to the upper terraces to enjoy the view of Milan's skyline and the famous statue Madonnina. We catch sight of gargoyle and demonic figures requested by Duke Gian Galeazzo Visconti in 1386 after Satan told him to engrave his image on the Duomo's facade. Lunch and visit to the Church and the Dominican Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie. We can admire the “Last Supper” by Leonardo Da Vinci. This work of art enchants for its lights and colors into different perspectives. In 1980 this masterpiece was included by the UNESCO in the World Heritage. Dinner at a Navigli Restaurant, where we taste some of Milan's typical specialties and enjoy Milan's night-life. Overnight stay at hotel.
MILAN, ANCIENT AND MODERN COLLECTIONS. Breakfast and visit of an ancient Roman site, San Lorenzo's sixteen marble columns. We leave the square, today a gathering place for Milanese youngsters. to reach “Castello Sforzesco”. The Castle dive into the past amongst Egyptian collections and galleries. Lunch at a central restaurant, nearby the luxurious “Vittorio Emanuele Gallery” and Piazza della Scala. We walk around the “bull's balls” three times. Itìs an old propitiatory ritual that takes place at the bull's mosaic...lucky charm of Milan. We end our visit in Montenapoleone shopping street, to visit the most renowned luxury boutiques where high fashion launches its most exclusive collections made in Italy. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
LAKES GRAND TOUR, A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION. Breakfast and excursion to Lake Maggiore in the nature of Villa Pallavicini and its magnificent Italian gardens. We meet different species of exotic birds, from parrots to swans. We can approach deers and llamas, kangaroos and zebras, that freely live in the natural areas of the park. Lunch at a restaurant. Afternoon through bright and austere places that fascinated travelers of the nineteenth century and inspired writers such as Bourget, De Musset, Longfellow, Stendhal and Flaubert. We visit the archipelago of the Borromeo Islands, with Isola Madre, Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori. We will head to Como to visit the historic city centre and its refined streets to San Fedele Square with an ancient cathedral built around the first Millennium on Early Christian ruins. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
LAKE COMO, ROMANTIC ATMOSPHERE. Breakfast and visit of Villa Serbelloni, which divides Lake Como in two branches. The house is supervised by the Rockefeller Foundation and offer a breathtaking view. The boulevards extend on a mile long surface and became on of the great passions of Count Alessandro Serbelloni, member of the richest Lombard family. Lunch at a restaurant to taste local products such as perch fillet risotto and exquisite olive oil. Afternoon visit to Villa del Balbianello, where we find an extravagant collection of African and pre-Columbian art, French and English furnitures and shipping papers belonging to Guido Monzino, an Italian explorer. Among its loggias romantic atmoshere, adorned with columns and mosaics, we enjoy an amazing view of the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
COMO, MANZONI'S HOUSE. Breakfast and visit to Manzoni's Museum. We can see in each of the ten rooms a theme from his famous novels with manuscripts and collections of memories. Lunch and departure.
